Hey! I'm Freddy.
I'm a freelance Elixir developer with
- ✅ a passion for testing,
- 👁️ an eye for design and
- ❤️ a love of agile team work.
I join new or existing teams to boost their output across the entire stack. I emphasize feature tests, code review and agile planning. These help me ensure a steady, high-quality output at a sustainable pace for my customers.
My work is based on a few simple principles:
- Software development is a craft to be perfected.
- Team work is essential.
- 90% done is not good enough.
- Learning continues.
Currently, I'm most productive in Elixir + Phoenix LiveView. But more importantly, I believe in choosing the right tool for the job. I've developed professionally in Java, TypeScript and Ruby. With several frameworks. On multiple cloud stacks. In tiny start ups and big corporations. Through this I have gained a good frame of reference.
I am based in Germany and work remote-first. Async work mode is my default for most of my day. But synchronous interaction boosts planning, reviews and shared learning. That is why I insist on time-zone overlap.
I fell in love with programming as a child, building robots with Lego Mindstorms. This fascination with the creative aspect of software continues to this day. Outside of work I take care of my young family and enjoy climbing and playing musical instruments. I believe a healthy work-life balance is key to steady, continuous performance and improvement.
